What is AI Brand Accuracy?

AI Brand Accuracy is the measurement of whether what AI platforms say about your brand is factually correct. It is the second AI search question, and it is being ignored.

The first question, the one most ASEO tools answer, is: does AI mention my brand? That is a citation problem. It is solved by getting AI to surface you. The Citation Probability Score® (CPS®) is built for that.

The second question is different: when AI does mention my brand, is what it says accurate? That is an accuracy problem. It is not solved by getting AI to mention you more. In fact, more mentions can make the problem worse if those mentions are wrong.

A brand cited 100 times with 30% inaccuracy is doing more damage than a brand cited 10 times with 0% inaccuracy.

That is the gap AI Brand Accuracy measures. It is what every brand owner needs to know once their citation rate climbs above zero.

CPS® measures citation. Accuracy measures correctness.

A brand can score high on one and low on the other. They are independent measurements. Both matter.

Buyers are now reading what AI says about you, not your homepage

Four risks that didn’t exist for brands two years ago. Each is a category. Each is happening to brands today.

📍

Wrong location

AI tells a buyer your business is in a city you have never operated in. That buyer never visits your site to discover the truth.

🛠️

Made-up services

AI confidently lists services you have never offered, alongside real ones. The buyer trusts the list as a whole or rejects it as a whole. Either way, you lose the conversation.

👤

Wrong people, wrong roles

AI attributes leadership, decisions, or quotes to the wrong person at your company. Past employees stay attached. New hires stay invisible.

🏆

Hallucinated credentials

AI invents awards, partnerships, certifications, or compliance status. Sometimes flattering. Sometimes legally problematic. Always uninspectable by the buyer.

Your customer might never visit your site. They might only ever see what an AI assistant summarised about you. That summary is now your shop window.

Five dimensions. One ground truth.

Every claim AI makes about your brand falls into one of five verification dimensions. Each one is checked against a single source: your signed Verified Brand Facts.

1

Services

What AI says you do. Checked against the services in your signed facts.

2

Location

Where AI says you are. Checked against your signed offices, regions, and service areas.

3

Contact

How AI says to reach you. Checked against your verified contact details.

4

Identity

Who AI says runs the company. Checked against your signed leadership and ownership.

5

Credentials

What AI claims you are accredited or partnered with. Checked against your signed certifications.

The Verified Brand Facts schema

Verified Brand Facts are a structured record of the facts about your business that you sign off as true. Locations, services, dates, leadership, partnerships, certifications. Once signed, they become the ground truth against which every AI claim is judged. The schema is proprietary to Cited By AI® and is the foundation of every paid Accuracy Report. Your signed facts are not shared, sold, or used for any purpose other than auditing your own AI presence.

Three ways in. Same ground truth.

Common questions about AI Brand Accuracy

What is AI Brand Accuracy?
AI Brand Accuracy is the measurement of whether what AI platforms (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot) say about your brand is factually correct. It is distinct from AI visibility, which measures how often AI cites you. Brand Accuracy measures whether those citations are accurate.
How is AI Brand Accuracy different from CPS® or AI visibility?
Citation Probability Score® (CPS®) measures how likely AI is to cite a piece of content. AI Brand Accuracy measures whether the citation is correct. A brand can have high CPS® and low Accuracy (AI cites you often, but says wrong things) or low CPS® and high Accuracy (AI rarely cites you, but is correct when it does). Both matter, and they are independent.
How accurate is the free check?
The free check runs 5 prompts against Claude Haiku and verifies factual claims against your homepage content. It is a credible directional indicator: if the free check finds unverified claims, those claims are real and worth investigating. The free check uses one platform and unsigned facts. The paid Accuracy Report uses 5 platforms with judge-scored findings against your signed Verified Brand Facts.
What does the paid Accuracy Report include?
The paid Accuracy Report runs 25 prompts (5 per platform, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot), captures every response, and runs a separate judge model that classifies factual claims against your Verified Brand Facts. You receive a docx report, an Excel appendix with every finding tagged by severity, and a shareable URL for stakeholders. Verified Brand Facts are signed off by your team before any report is published.
How often should I monitor brand accuracy?
AI platforms update their training data and crawl priorities continuously. A brand fact that was correct in March can be subtly wrong in June. Monthly monitoring catches drift before it spreads, especially for fast-changing facts (pricing, leadership, service offerings, locations). Quarterly is the minimum useful cadence. Annual is too slow for most brands.

Why should I run a free check before talking to you?
Three reasons. First, it costs you nothing and takes 30 seconds. Second, it gives you a real result on your real domain that you can react to immediately. Third, when you decide to talk to us about a full Accuracy Report, you arrive with a baseline finding rather than a hypothetical question, which makes the conversation faster and the scope clearer.
