Most AI visibility tools are WordPress plugins. That's not a product decision; it's an architectural constraint. You can't install a WordPress plugin on a Shopify store. You can't install one on Webflow, Squarespace, HubSpot, or a custom React build. If your site isn't on WordPress, that entire category of tooling simply doesn't apply to you. CBA's ASEO audit does.

The audit doesn't live inside your CMS. It analyses what AI platforms say about your brand, scores your content at paragraph level using the CPS® framework, and delivers a 35-section diagnostic report. None of that requires plugin access, database credentials, or a WordPress installation. It works the same way on a Shopify DTC brand, a Webflow agency site, a Squarespace service business, or a bespoke Next.js application.

Why plugin-based tools can't follow you off WordPress

This isn't a criticism of WordPress AEO plugins: they do real work inside the platform they're built for. The problem is architectural. A WordPress plugin hooks into the WordPress editor, the WordPress database, and the WordPress admin interface. Shopify has none of those. Webflow has none of those. The plugin literally has nowhere to install.

That means if you're running a Shopify store, a Webflow portfolio, or a custom-built site, the entire category of WordPress-first AI visibility tools simply doesn't apply to you. The features marketed on their homepages (live AEO scoring in the editor, schema auto-generation, content gap scanning) all require WordPress to function. You're looking at a window you can't open.

Plugin-based AI visibility tools require WordPress. CBA's audit requires nothing except a URL and 48 hours. The methodology analyses AI platform outputs and content structure, not your CMS's plugin registry.

What platform-neutral ASEO actually looks like

The reason CBA's audit is platform-neutral is that it operates at the right layer. AI citation doesn't happen inside your CMS. It happens when ChatGPT or Perplexity runs a retrieval pass, pulls content from across the web, embeds candidate blocks, and selects the highest-scoring ones for its answer. That process doesn't care whether your page was built in Webflow or WordPress. It cares about paragraph length, fact density, answer structure, self-containment, and freshness signals.

Those five signals are what the CPS® framework measures. The audit reads your pages, chunks them into 134-167 word retrieval segments, and scores each one. A Shopify product description, a Webflow case study, a Squarespace service page, a Next.js blog post: they all produce paragraphs that either score Grade B or above (regularly cited) or fall below Grade D (rarely or never cited). Platform type is irrelevant to that scoring decision.

Platform-specific notes

Shopify

Shopify stores have specific AI citation challenges. Product page content is often thin: under 200 words, with no declarative openings and near-zero fact density. AI retrieval systems consistently skip these in favour of third-party review content and comparison articles. The ASEO audit for a Shopify site focuses heavily on product description restructuring, category page content, and collection-level FAQ blocks that can actually compete at retrieval stage. The Citability Score for most unoptimised Shopify stores sits below Grade D on the majority of pages. That's fixable, but only once it's measured.

Webflow

Webflow is actually one of the better platforms for ASEO work. The CMS generates clean, well-structured HTML, and JSON-LD can be injected into page headers without developer involvement using Webflow's custom code fields. The main gap on Webflow sites is content structure: most Webflow-built pages are designed for visual impact rather than retrieval, with short paragraphs, design-first copy, and missing freshness signals. The audit identifies which CMS fields need content updates and provides the exact rewrite for each failing block.

Squarespace

Squarespace's schema support is limited and its content blocks are shorter than ideal for RAG chunking. Most Squarespace service businesses have strong visual pages and weak AI citability: the blocks are too short, too design-dependent, and too light on facts. The audit produces specific rewrite recommendations for the content blocks that can be edited within Squarespace's page editor, plus schema injection guidance for the blocks that require code injection.

HubSpot CMS

HubSpot CMS sites typically have stronger content depth than Squarespace or Webflow, especially for B2B companies that have been running inbound marketing programmes for years. The ASEO audit for HubSpot sites often finds the opposite problem from Shopify: too much content, but poorly structured at the block level. Long pages with no declarative openings, FAQ sections without schema markup, and pillar pages that score well on word count but poorly on self-containment. The Zero-Gap Topic Matrix is particularly valuable for HubSpot sites with existing content libraries, identifying which queries AI platforms are answering without citing the brand's existing content.

Custom-built sites

Custom sites on React, Next.js, Laravel, Django, or any other stack get the same full audit. The structured data and llms.txt implementation recommendations are delivered as code-ready snippets that a developer can deploy in a single session. For teams with in-house engineers, the CPS® rewrite list integrates directly into an existing content update cycle without requiring any third-party tooling.

Platform-neutral isn't a fallback position. It's the correct way to measure AI citation. The selection decision happens on AI platforms, not inside your CMS. An audit that operates at the AI-response layer is more accurate than one that operates at the plugin layer, regardless of which platform your site runs on.

What the 28-module audit covers

Share of VoiceBrand mention and citation rate across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, and Microsoft Copilot. Per platform, per funnel stage.
CPS® Block ScoringEvery key page scored at paragraph level across five retrieval signals. Grade A-F per block, with the specific pillar causing each failure identified.
Funnel-Stage SOVAwareness, Consideration, and Decision-stage queries tracked separately. Where you're visible, where you're absent, and which stage is leaking to competitors.
AI Accuracy AuditEvery AI-generated claim about your brand cross-checked against verified facts. Hallucinations flagged with the specific prompt that produced them.
Zero-Gap Topic MatrixQueries where AI platforms answer but your brand is absent. Direct content brief for each gap.
Competitive Win RateHead-to-head citation comparison against named competitors on shared query clusters.
GA4 Revenue AttributionAI-referred sessions traced to goal completions and conversion value. The number that justifies continued investment.
Infrastructure Auditllms.txt, robots.txt, Schema.org markup, and AI crawler access reviewed. Delivered as ready-to-implement code, not a checklist.
